Most people wouldn’t associate the game of golf with a life and death situation. This was the case for Rob Lowe, apparently, who quit playing after he accidentally killed a bird.
According to People, Rob Lowe visited the Conan show where he revealed that during a Celebrity golf tournament in 2007, he hit a ball in the air, but that it unfortunately hit a bird. But it wasn’t just any bird. It was Iowa’s state bird, the American goldfinch.
Lowe told Conan that he “hit a really- I thought- was a nice sand wedge.” The bird was killed instantly and fell to the ground to the sand trap.
Lowe was on Conan Monday, where he also shared a story about working on The Lyon’s Den and how he knew it wouldn’t be on for long because of where they filmed. Instead of letting them film by a studio lot, they were in a warehouse where a factory next store made sex toys.
Conan was surprised, saying “Seriously? You’re not making that up? A factory where they made dildos?”
Parks and Recreation, which Lowe starred in as Rashida Jones’ character’s love interest, just entered its last season.
