Rosie O’Donnell said on The View today that Rosie Perez is coming back to The View once she finishes rehearsals for the Broadway play Fish in the Dark. O’Donnell had to clear the air after rumors sprouted that Perez was leaving.

On Wednesday night, there was a report from Variety that claimed Perez was not going to come back after leaving the show at the beginning of the month to work in Larry David’s first play. The report stated that it was “understood” that she wouldn’t be back because she didn’t work well within the daytime talker’s format.

However, O’Donnell declared at the beginning of today’s episode that this is not the case. Once reheasals are done, Perez will be back, O’Donnell said.

“And no matter what you read anywhere, Rosie Perez is also coming back after she is done rehearsing her play,” O’Donnell said, reports USA Today. “Her play, the new Larry David play she's starring in, opens soon and then she will be back here at her job - regardless of what you hear on other shows or read in magazines. As I did last night at 11:40 and went 'What the ..?'”

ABC also said that Perez’s “status with the show has not changed.”

There is another report from Fox News that claims that ABC is currently considering cancelling The View because of its struggles in the ratings. A source told the site that The View is a “sinking ship.”
