CBS picked up several pilots late Monday, including a TV series based on the hit action movie series Rush Hour. In addition, the eye network will give Super Clyde a second chance.
Rumors of a Rush Hour series cropped up in October and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that it has been given a pilot order. The TV version will follow the same format as the movies, with a Hong Kong police officer matched with a LAPD officer who doesn’t want a partner. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan starred in the movies.
Rush Hour will be written by Cougar Town team Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick. It will be produced at Warner Bros. TV.
Up next is Greg Garcia’s Super Clyde, which was originally developed back in 2013 with Rupert Grint in the title role. However, CBS ultimately passed on the single-cam pilot.
CBS continued working with Garcia though, as he was the creator of The Millers. Obviously, his feelings weren’t hurt when The Millers was unceremoniously cancelled just after it started its second season.
It’s not clear if Grint would be available to play the role of a comic book geek-turned-super hero again.
CBS also picked up a pilot called Joe Time from Bill Wrubel, who worked on Modern Family. That centers on a family man who sees everyone around them fulfilling their dreams but himself.
