Sarah Palin is getting some backlash for posting a photo of her son Trig standing on top of their dog. The former vice presidential candidate is being accused of animal cruelty for it.

Palin posted a photo of Trig standing on their dog to get to the counter, with Palin writing that the dog is “lazy” and Trig used him as a “stepping stone.”

"Happy New Year! May 2015 see every stumbling block turned into a stepping stone on the path forward,” she wrote. “Trig just reminded me. He, determined to help wash dishes with an oblivious mama not acknowledging his signs for 'up!', found me and a lazy dog blocking his way. He made his stepping stone."

E! Online reports her Facebook followers flooded her feed with comments, many condemning her for the photo.

While some called it “animal cruelty” there were, of course, those who defended her.

One Facebook user posted a photo that Ellen DeGeneres posted in July on her own Facebook page; a toddler standing on a dog’s back to get to the sink.

“Selective outrage? Those who are so upset about this Trig picture, did you make comments about this Ellen picture? Well, Ellen is a liberal and that make all the difference. She posted a similar photo. No fuss about that photo. Many people liked the Ellen photo,” he wrote.
