New shows for 2015 already started this week and there are plenty of returning ones to be excited about as well. Television for 2015 will introduce us to new characters and familiar characters on new shows. There will even be some shows coming to an end. With that in mind, the staff at TheCelebrityCafe.com had television on the brain this week.
Tina Henry: I've got a lot of favorite shows starting back soon, following their winter hiatus or previous season, but I think the one I'm most anxious to see is Suits. The show is so dynamic and the characters so well developed that there's no one person you're holding your breath to see what they do next (although I'd watch the show with the sound turned down just to drool over Gabriel Macht). All of them have strong and relevant identities and will each be returning with a consequential emphasis on the story lines to come. Previews are insinuating that Louis Litt finally gets his oh so sought after senior partner title, and aims to get Mike fired once and for all. Suits returns to USA on Jan. 28 at 10 p.m. ET. Catch up on the first 10 episodes of season 4 at USAMetwork.com. And be sure to tune in to the mid-season premiere to see if Mike gets "Litt up!"
Angela Corry: As a total TV junkie I am usually on the edge of my seat waiting for my shows to return. I am actually less excited by Once Upon A Time and The Good Wife as I usually am. Carissa's OUAT top tens are a lot more fun than the show has been. (Catch her OUAT pick up lines.) On the top of my list for spring returns is Chicago Fire, followed by The McCarthy's. One keeps me on the edge of my seat every episode, while the other has me laughing the whole 30 minutes. TV can't get much better than that!
Samantha Ravenscroft: Usually not a fan of reality TV, the one show I absolutely can not wait any longer for is King of the Nerds. Being a bit of a nerd myself, I love watching all the contestants 'fangirl' over the cool stuff in Nerdvana, and the celebrity guests are always great to see. Plus I love seeing if I could beat the contestants at the trivia games!
Elizabeth Learned: It's honestly hard for me to find time to watch new television shows, especially since my little brother commandeers the television every chance he gets. I can never miss an episode of NCIS or any of its spin-offs and Criminal Minds. Plus, I also just got back into CSI after being unable to keep up with the last few seasons. I am fascinated by the cases in these police procedurals and I love the character relationships. I also just got into The Flash and I am loving every second of it, so I can't wait until it comes back from winter hiatus!
Will Ashton: It may very well be the most obvious choice as possible, but I'll be damned if there is a show this year that I'm looking forward to more than Better Call Saul. Anything from show creator Vince Gilligan and star Bob Odenkirk would already be a number one pick in my book, but the fact that it is, indeed, their prequel/sequel to Breaking Bad, my favorite show of all time bar none, makes me more excited than a school girl getting front row tickets to her favorite boy band.
It's very much possible this show will completely suck, not only running some of the goodwill I have for a show I consider the closest to perfect in television history, but just flat out disappoint me to no end. But I believe Gilligan and Odenkirk will have created something not only highly watchable, but perhaps just as good as their previous show. Nothing will ever be Breaking Bad, and that will probably turn some fans away, but I'll certainly be there when it premieres on February 8, just a month away. After all, it's hard to believe AMC would renew a show for two seasons already that is completely terrible.
Some honorable mentions go to: Togetherness, Community season six, Fargo season two, True Detective season two (if it comes out this year), Louie season five, The Brink, Atlanta, Baskets, Westworld.
Daniel S Levine: I have to say that I’m more excited for returning shows than new ones. I’m obsessed with Parks and Recreation, so I’m hopeful that a full season in 2017 doesn’t ruin everyone. Mad Men is also coming to a close, which is sad. I just hope Don Draper doesn’t die in the end. That would suck.
When it comes to new shows, I am hopeful that Fox’s Last Man on Earth with Will Forte is at least funny. The Rock and Roll pilot that Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger are working on also sounds exciting. (It would be nice if it had a title by now.)
Gina DiFalco: Two shows that I cannot wait to return are HBO’s Girls and Netflix’s Orange is the New Black.
Lena Dunham never ceases to amaze me with her witty style of writing, and everything these girls are going through in the phase of their lives is so relatable. Doesn’t hurt that I’m their target demographic!
As for OITNB, I binged watched the two seasons so quickly and I’m itching in anticipation for the third season’s release date.
