Fox 34 reported that producer Marc Platt announced that Daldry was involved with the project. Platt worked on Into The Woods, which is currently playing in theaters.

He's been on for a year or two, but it's (now) in process. 2016 is the goal, but I don't know whether we'll make that goal or not. We will make the movie, but like I said, the bar is really high," explained Platt.

The producer also explained that the transition from a musical stage production to a feature film takes time. He explained that it took 25 years for Into The Woods to be seen on the big screen and 30 for the popular Les Miserables musical.

Wicked opened on Broadway back in October of 2003 and featured Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. The musical focuses on the story of two witches in Oz and how this leads into the popular The Wizard of Oz.

CNN reported that a big screen Wicked could be seen in as early as 2016.
