Rap music mogul Suge Knight is in trouble with the law once again. Early Friday morning, he was arrested on suspicion of murder after he allegedly ran over two men near the set of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton Thursday.
Police told The Los Angeles Times that the situation began around 3 p.m. on the set of the movie in Compton. Knight started arguing with two men, whose names have not been released.
Twenty minutes later, the two men were at a burger restaurant when Knight spotted them. Authorities believe that he followed the men and a witness said Knight stuck them with his truck. He then allegedly drove away from the scene.
One of the victims, a 55-year-old, has died, while the other, 51, suffered injuries. LAPD Capt. John Corina confirmed that one of the victims was working on the film.
ABC 7 reports that Corina has confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
Knight’s attorney, James Blatt, has argued that his client was trying to escape two men who attacked him. Blatt said that one of the victims was a friend of Knight’s, Terry Certer. He said that the other victim was Cle Shaheed “Bone” Sloan, an actor.
"I am positive Mr. Knight will be exonerated by Tuesday," Blatt told the Times. "Investigators are still interviewing witnesses and still need to see video of the incident."
Knight is currently being held on $2 million bail. He has a long list of run-ins with the law and recently survived being shot multiple times during a party before the MTV VMAs.
