In the bunker, Dean is committing to program in an attempt to control the Mark of Cain, and honestly I never in a million years thought I’d see Dean give up drinking, part one of his recovery. The other two consist of a good night’s sleep and eating healthy. This is a side of Dean I really thought I’d never see.

Clean-eater Sam is also hunkered down in the bunker doing research when he comes across an interesting video. It’s our favorite lady Charlie, but maybe not the Charlie we remember. This Charlie is beating up a guy in a robe. Sam and Dean look into the victim, Peter Harper and decide to talk to him to find out exactly what’s going on.

From Peter the boys learn the Charlie is trying to gain more insight into the drunk driving accident that killed her parents. Turns out the case never went to trial, and now the case has totally disappeared from the system. After pushing Peter a little they finally find out where Charlie headed to next.

They stake out the house when they hear a scream come from inside. Bursting through the door the boys come face to face with Charlie, holding a knife to the victim’s neck claiming she “should’ve known Rocket and Groot would track me down.” (A+ GATG reference) Dean tries to talk Charlie down but she takes Dean out with a leg chokehold and even slashes the Impala’s car tire on the way out. But then guess what? Another Charlie pulls up in a little yellow car. This Charlie is much sweeter than the one that just fled the scene so more than likely this is the real Charlie. But then that leaves one question? Who was that other girl?

So turns out there are two Charlies; a good one and an evil one. While in Oz, there was a war for Emerald City. They were close to losing when Charlie made a deal with the Wizard. The Wizard used a key to open the door to Charlie’s soul, and unleashed her darkness. Now while there are two Charlie’s if you hurt either one of them, you hurt the other.

The Dark Charlie won the war in Oz, but now she is disconnected from good Charlie. So in an attempt to win back her good, she is on a mission to find the driver that killed her parents.

So Sam and Charlie hack into the bank statements and track the money to see who killed Charlie’s parents. The gang decide to split up, Sam and Charlie head back to the bunker to find a way back to Oz, Dean heads off to scout out the man who killed Charlie’s parents, Russell Wellington.

As Dean is trying to get Russell to confess to the accident all those years ago, Dark Charlie shows up. She knows just how to play Dean as she turns on the water works and claims she just wants to talk to Russell. Dean allows it, but then she murders the guy.

Luckily Sam and Charlie had a little more luck with their research. Turns out there was a Man of Letters who discovered the key to Oz who might even still be alive. While they head there, Dean is considering drowning his sorrows in booze when Dark Charlie shows back up and steals the Impala.

Sam and Charlie chat with the retired Man of Letters and find out that he also had his darkness ripped out of him. Turns out his dark side is the...wait for it...the Wizard! Turns out the way to summon him is to mortally wound the Man of Letters.

Dean arrives to the house just in time to hear the shot of the gun. Of course Dark Charlie pulls up just a few seconds later, claiming to just want to talk to Good Charlie.

While Sam has to deal with the Wizard inside the house, Dean has to deal with Dark Charlie outside. And every time Dean gets in a punch, Good Charlie can feel it.

While the Wizard is distracted by Sam, Good Charlie kills his other half, in turn killing the Wizard. Quickly Sam grabs the Wizards key and runs outside to put Charlie back in one piece.

Charlie rests at the bunker for a few days and she decides to help the boys get rid of the Mark of Cain. She decides to go to Tuscany to find the Book of the Damned which may provide insight into the Mark.

Charlie forgive Dean for what he did to her but of course doesn’t forgive himself. “I know. It’s kind of your move. How’s that working out for you, huh?” she tells him. Dean apologizes again and Charlie is out to find the book.
