Cary Grant was born Archibald Leach on Jan. 18, 1904, meaning that he would be turning 110 if he were still alive this year. Sadly, he’s no longer with us physically and one could say that we’ve never really seen another male leading star like him since.
I’ve seen about 35 movies starring Grant and that’s only scratching the surface. He made an astonishing 77 movies between 1932 and 1966. However, despite his beloved status inside and outside Hollywood, he was only nominated for two Oscars during his entire career.
That’s likely because Grant was never tied to one studio after he left Paramount. He began his career there, thanks to Mae West’s help. When that contract was up, Grant went with a non-exclusive contract to RKO, which meant that he could work with any studio and he took that advantage. He picked his roles wisely and did his best to keep from being typecast, moving easily from comedy to drama.
Now, on with the list...
