Commander Harris and Clayton Waters are the victims in this episode of NCIS: Los Angeles when Ambassador Kelly (Julie Chen) escapes what appears to be an assassination attempt. The team is unable to get to Tunisia where the crime took place so Callen and Sam make a mission to the crime scene in order to take photos for a digital rendering of the scene.

Once back at home, the team is working to figure out what happened and why the ambassador was under attack. But surveillance evidence and other items at the crime scene lead the team to focus on a top secret op that could lead to lives being in jeopardy if terrorists got word about them. They had apparently been trying to kidnap Harris, but were unsuccessful.

Throughout the episode, we saw the team working separately, but also together as a solidified unit, showing they work well as a team and can communicate even when they banter with one another. Let’s take a look at some of the top moments from the episode “In the Line of Duty.”

8. Be safe

Since there is a lot of danger associated with this case, Sam and Callen split up from Kensi and Deeks so they have more room to investigate without a full team at risk. Kensi and Deeks aren’t too happy and they tell the guys to “be safe.” The scene below is when Callen and Sam are working during the investigation and get information from the Ambassador.

1. Goodnight

After saying goodbye to the FBI agent they were working with on the case, Deeks jokes about wanting a Hetty bobblehead after seeing the 3D imaging device. The team, of course gives him a hard time and the agent comments that the team seems to work well together. After saying goodbye, Deeks fondly calls his “dysfunctional” family pet names as he says goodnight.
