Without Charlie Sheen, there is no way Two and a Half Men would even exist and, four years after he was fired, it looks like co-creator Chuck Lorre is ready to have him back for the final season. Lorre wouldn’t confirm Sheen’s return, but did say he plans to honor the Sheen era in the one-hour series finale.

During the Television Critics Association press tour on Thursday, Lorre was asked if Sheen was going to return. After all, the two had a very public falling out when Sheen was fired and then replaced by Ashton Kutcher.

“I think we’re going to have a finale you’re going to be very pleased with and that’s all I’m going to say about it,” Lorre said at first, Entertainment Weekly reported.

However, Lorre later decided to explain further that it wouldn’t be right for the show’s finale not to recognize the impact Sheen left on the show. He noted that this will be challenging though, since the show has changed significantly since Sheen left, notes Deadline.

“There is nothing but great feelings for the eight-and-a-half years we worked together. But how to wrap the show up? It’s tricky,” Lorre noted. “Because, in a way, the show morphed into something else entirely for the last four years, and its something we love. And we want to honor both. How to honor both is the challenge of this finale.”

Lorre declined to talk about Angus T. Jones’ possible return for the Feb. 19 finale.

Earlier this month, Sheen reportedly ranted about Men, but then deleted his tweets.

After leaving Men, Sheen went to FX to star in Anger Management, which didn’t last anywhere near as long as Men.
