Actor Val Kilmer was rushed to the hospital earlier this week and is recovering from surgery. There was a report that he had a throat tumor, but he has since said that this isn’t the case.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that paramedics were called to his Malibu home on Monday night. Someone called 911 to report that he was bleeding from the throat. He was then taken to UCLA Medical Center in Santa Monica, where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.
While TMZ claimed that the medical emergency was due to a throat tumor, Kilmer has since taken to Facebook to shoot down this rumor.
“Thank you for all your sweet support. But I have not had a tumor, or a tumor operations, or any operation,” Kilmer wrote to his fans. “I had a complication where the best way to receive care was to stay under the watchful eye of the ucla ICU.”
He later asked his fans not to worry. “I am praying for a speedy return to the boards as they say. God bless you all and please don't worry,” he wrote.
Kilmer was recently seen in public at a Clippers game, wearing a scarf around his neck. He’s also been seen wearing scarves in other public appearances.
Kilmer is best known for his roles in Heat, Batman Forever and Top Gun. He was recently seen in Palo Alto with James Franco.
