Considering their packed schedules, every fan of the 2001 cult comedy Wet Hot American Summer had every reason to suspect that some members of the original cast wouldn’t be able to reprise their roles for the Netflix series. However, Netflix has confirmed that even Bradley Cooper and Paul Rudd found time to make appearances.
The streaming service released a teaser yesterday, which merely lists the members of the cast that will return. They include Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Cooper, Judah Friedlander, Janeane Garofalo, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Christopher Meloni, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, and Michael Showalter.
Netflix officially greenlit the series earlier this month, after months of speculation and rumors. The series, dubbed Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, will run eight episodes and will be posted this summer. It was created by the film’s writers, David Wain and Michael Showalter.
The original film, directed by Wain, was released in 2001, before many members of its cast became the big stars that they are today. It only made $300,000 at the box office, but has since become a beloved cult hit.
It will certainly be jarring to see Cooper up to summer camp hijinks after his Oscar-nominated performance in American Sniper.
