The episode begins with Bruce asleep on the couch and we see he has fallen asleep doing some studying and research about Wayne Enterprises. A drunken Barbara arrives at Jim’s old apartment to find Ivy and Selina now living there.

Oswald is at the club watching his mother sing and she is not being received well by the rest of the crowd. A man insults her and Oswald walks over and shatters a glass of his head. We see Fish waking up in what appears to be the basement of the club.

Jim and Leslie are at the circus where one of the main attractions are The Flying Grayson's. In the middle of the show a brawl erupts between a group of clowns and The Grayson's. Later, Jim and Leslie find out that there is a rivalry between the Lloyd family and the Grayson family. This particular feud came over a snake charmer named Lyla.

Jim goes to speak with Lyla and meets her son, Jerome. Jerome doesn’t know where his mother is and seems concerned. Jim wants Jerome to release her snake to see if it can find Lyla. They find Lyla murdered in the back of a truck.

Fish is giving a passionate speech to the prisoners and promises that some of them will get out of here alive. Fish claims they are family and appears to be winning over the prisoners. They are mediating when armed men come in and demand prisoners to step forward. Fish stops him and says they need to talk.

Jim and Leslie visit where Lyla’s body was found and end up arresting most of the circus. Two of Lyla’s lovers included Alfonzo Grayson and Owen Lloyd. Jim interrogates Owen while Harvey interrogates Alfonzo and find out this long-standing feud is over a house back before World War I. They both accuse the other of murdering Lyla.

Jim talks with Jerome about his mother and it is clear that Jerome cared for her deeply. He was happy with the person she was.

In the basement, Fish claims she is the new “shot caller” and offers a trade for the prisoner. The armed men need the prisoners alive and when he refuses Fish’s deal, they kill the man in front of him. They want to take her to speak with the manager but Fish refuses. She pays respect to the dead prisoner.

Captain Essen is trying to understand the current investigation. Edward reveals to them that Lyla was murdered with a large hatchet. Alfonzo and Owen were both performing during the estimated time of the murder, but are still considered to be the top suspects. Jim releases the rest of the circus minus the two of them.

Jim and Leslie are discussing plans for that night when a psychic from the circus named Paul Cicero arrives and has a message for them from Lyla. “The servant of the devil lies in the garden of the iron sisters.” Jim seeks skeptical to believe anything he says and this leads to a disagreement between him and Leslie.

We see Bruce continuing his research and Alfred confirms that he has a meeting with the board of Wayne Enterprises tomorrow. Alfred doesn’t want Bruce to get mixed up in this and fears for both of them.

Oswald is relaxing in his club while playing the piano. Barbara is giving Selina and Ivy a fashion show of what she wants to wear when she goes to visit Jim.

Jim and Leslie are having dinner when it suddenly dawns on her what Cicero’s message means. She think it is referring to Arkham Bridge. They go investigate under the bridge and while talking stumble upon a hatchet on the ground with the letters THFC on it. This stands for The Hellfire Club, a satanic cult that was supposed to be inactive.

They arrive at GCPD and Jim reluctantly allows Leslie to join him in the interrogation room. They interrogate Cicero, who Jim believes killed Lyla and planted the hatchet because he is protecting someone. Jerome then joins them in the interrogation room. Jim accuses Jerome of killing his mother, much to Jerome’s shock. Jim also thinks that Cicero is Jerome’s father. Moments later Cicero admits he is Jerome’s father. Jerome appears upset but then has a change of heart and an evil side shows up. Jerome says he killed his mother because she just kept pushing him with her behavior. Jerome’s personality has drastically changed.

Jim and Leslie are talking and sharing a passionate kiss when Barbara walks in and sees them. She looks devastated and walks away.

Oswald is at the club when Victor Zsasz pays him a visit. He says that Falcone thinks he is doing a poor job of running the club and has sent someone to help him. We see Fish’s associate Butch standing behind him, much to Oswald’s horror. It seems that Butch has been brainwashed by Victor. Butch is there to help Oswald.

Bruce is getting ready for his meeting with Wayne Enterprises. Bruce stands in front of the board and has questions about Wayne Enterprises’ business affairs. He questions about the Arkham Project and chemical weapons manufacturing. The board looks speechless. Bruce thinks that their collusion involving corruption and shady deals. Bruce threatens legal action and claims that Wayne Enterprises will change when he is in charge.

Jim congratulates the Grayson and Owen families on reconciling. Harvey notices that Jim is in a good mood because he spent the night with Leslie.

The armed men re-approach Fish and say that the manager agrees to the deal. Thomas Schmidt will stay down with the prisoners while Fish goes to talk with the manager….
