The film Fifty Shades of Grey has stirred up a lot of controversy. Based on the first novel in a trilogy by E. L. James, its sexual intensity was highly anticipated by many.

In its infancy, Fifty Shades of Grey was a Twilight fan fiction. According to The Guardian, it was first released as an ebook which was quickly picked up by Vintage Books, and became a number one best seller. In fact, it has spent well over 100 weeks on the New York Times Best Sellers list and has sold over 100 million copies.

Replacing the less kinky Harlequin romances of the past, Fifty Shades of Grey is the new fantasy world in which many middle aged women engage. Many of these women are at a point in their relationships where they are interested in spicing up their love life. One feature of the film that most couples are willing to try out is bondage, with handcuffs being one of the more popular forms. In light of the fact that National Handcuff Day (yes, there’s a holiday for that) was Feb. 20, we’ll take a look at the various aspects of handcuffs.
