Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was named the Associated Press NFL's Most Valuable Player for the 2014-15 season.
Rodgers received the award during the NFL Honors show according to The New York Daily News.The quarterback earned 31 of 50 votes from media members while Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt came in second place with 13. Rodgers said he was thankful for the award and to be a part of the legacy of the Packers.
“I feel so fortunate to live out my dreams, year after year,” Rodgers said Saturday night. “When you live in Green Bay you know about the Lombardi years, Bart Starr and all the guys who made those teams special. You like to be part of something special yourself.”
Huffington Post reports that Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray and quarterback Tony Romo received two votes apiece while New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner each received one.
Rodgers led the Packers to a regular season record of 12-4 and an appearance in the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks. Rodgers threw for 38 touchdowns to only five interceptions while also throwing 512 consecutive passes at home without a pick. This is Rodgers' second MVP award and first since 2011.
