Allison Williams has broken her silence on the suspension of her father, Brian Williams, from his NBC Nightly News program for lying about events that happened in Iraq in 2003.
She insisted he’s a man of “so much integrity” despite this incident – and possibly others – and admits it’s been a “tough” time on their family.
The family is looking at the positive side of it all, counting their blessings of having their “health” and “each other” and they’re humbled by the fact that friends, family members and even complete strangers have reached out “saying we want him back on TV," E! Online reports.
“It's been tough, though. Obviously, toughest on my dad, who bears the full burden of responsibility for it,” she told Seth Myers during a Q&A at 92Y in NYC Wednesday, after she refused to answer questions about it at the Michael Kors fashion show at NYFW.
She continued to defend her father, saying, "One thing the experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He's a really good man. He's an honest man. He's a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism,” adding, “And yes, he's a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I've tested him on that."
She also admitted her wedding plans with fiance Ricky Van Veen have been on hold in light of these “current events,” which were already on hold for her Peter Pan Live performance.
