There’s a reason why we haven’t heard from Amanda Bynes in a few weeks and, thankfully, it’s a good one. Her lawyer and a family source both say that the former actress is doing much better. She is even living on her own.
People reports that there was a private meeting with a Ventura County, California judge on Tuesday. While her conservatorship - which gives her parents control her her finances and medical needs - will be extended, her lawyer, David Esquibias, said that she is “doing well.”
The next hearing on her conservatorship will be on June 23.
“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago,” a family source told People and ABC News. “She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”
Esquibias also confirmed reports from January that her September DUI case was dismissed. She was facing probation violation for the arrest. She is currently on three years’ probation for a DUI arrest in 2012.
Bynes had a rough fall 2014, including a trip to the hospital after she was displaying concerning behavior that included wandering around West Hollywood and bizarre tweets. She has since stepped away from the social network and hasn’t tweeted since Jan. 14.
