Angelina Jolie has been renowned for her work in humanitarian efforts to help women and now, she has announced plans for a center that will be open in London.

According to People, while attending an event with Britain’s First Secretary of State William Hague, it was revealed that plans were in place for the opening of the Centre on Women, Peace and Security.

The London School of Economics issued a press release that the center is geared toward expanding and supporting the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative that Hague and Jolie co-founded in linking education and prevention of violent crimes, as well as making sure that perpetrators were held responsible and the rights of the victims were protected.

Hague was quoted as saying, “I’m delighted that as we take forward the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative we’ll be able to work with the UK’s first academic centre on Women, Peace and Security at the LSE, providing the ideas and rigorous academic understanding needed to expand equal rights, equal freedom, and equal opportunity for women everywhere.”

The center is expected to begin the process of providing students with post-graduate degrees next year and the center has found support from U.S. officials including Hilary Clinton and John Kerry.

Jolie also said of the program, “We need the next generation of educated youth with inquisitive minds and fresh energy, who are willing not only to sit in the classroom but to go out into the field and the courtrooms and to make a decisive difference.”

Jolie has been celebrated for her humanitarian work, including being named as an honorary dame by Queen Elizabeth II in Britain.
