Parks and Recreations co-star Aziz Ansari honored the death of the show's co-executive producer Harris Wittels in an open letter.

Deadline reports that the actor/comedian posted a letter on Tumblr remembering the career and life of Wittels who was found dead of an apparent overdose on Thursday in Los Angeles.

“There are so few people that you meet in life that give you that feeling that you’ve found a real unique, original person,” Ansari wrote to start his 2,800-word Tumblr post. “Harris Wittels was one of those and we lost him yesterday.”

Ansari, who plays Tom Haverford on the hit NBC comedy, wrote about Wittels talent for writing jokes and that they often worked together on stand-up comedy. Wittel also used his talent for writing to help Ansari in creating movie scripts. Ansari added that Wittel was helping him develop a new project with Parks and Recreations coming to an end soon.

Wittels was 30-years-old at the time of his passing.
