Anthony Bosch, the former owner of the Biogenesis clinic in Florida, has been sentenced to four years in prison for his role in providing athletes with performance-enhancing drugs.
According to Fox Sports, U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles issued the sentencing and because of Bosch's cooperation with the investigation sough a more reasonable punishment.
"My addiction took the best of me," Bosch told Judge Gayles, while family members sobbed in the courtoom gallery. "I can't put into words how sorry I am."
The New York Daily News reports that Bosch will get the opportunity later this year to reduce his sentence if he testitifes against fellow conspirators Yuri Sucart and Lazer Collazo. Sucart, a cousin of New York Yankess third basemen Alex Rodriguez, was implicated by Rodriguez after he said Sucart gave him steroids several years ago. Rodriguez could also be called to testify after Bosch identified him as one of his biggest customers.
Bosch supplied over a dozen MLB players with steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs from his clinic. In October of 2014, Bosch plead guilty to conspiracy to sell testosterone to athletes.
