Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin will undergo surgery on his right elbow to remove a staff infection.

NBC Sports Talk reports that the Clippers announced Griffin will have surgery in Los Angeles on Monday and will be re-evaluated after the All-Star break.

"The procedure is scheduled to be performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache and assisted by Clippers team physician Dr. Steven Shimoyama." said a press release by the Clippers.

Dr. ElAttrache was the same surgeon who repaired Lakers guard Kobe Bryant's torn right rotator cuff earlier in the season.

While the Clippers did not give an official timetable for Griffin's return,ESPN reports that the All-Star forward could miss 4-6 weeks of action. With Griffin unable to compete in the upcoming All-Star game he will most likely be replaced by Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard who has shown frustration with not being named an All-Star.

Griffin has averaged 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game so far this season.
