Brian Williams’ 6-month suspension from NBC Nightly News isn’t his only setback right now. He’s now been forced to resign from the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation’s board of directors.
He was suspended earlier this month for lying about events that occurred in Iraq in 2003 and it’s now costing him in other areas of his life and career.
The head of the foundation, Ron Rand, issued a statement about Williams’ resignation earlier this week.
The statement gave no explanation, only pointing out he had served as one of the board’s directors for 9 years.
“Brian Williams has resigned from the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation Board of Directors. He had served in that position since September 2006,” said the statement.
Williams has apologized for the lie he has told for years about being in a helicopter that was struck down by enemy forces.
“I would not have chosen to make this mistake," he said. "I don't know what screwed up in my mind that caused me to conflate one aircraft with another."
