As if Bruce Jenner wasn't under enough media scrutiny for his alleged transition into a woman, the Kardashian/Jenner patriarch was in an accident this Saturday that resulted in the death of a woman, now identified as Kim Howe. Bruce was driving down the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu when he rear-ended the car in front of him. The crash ended up involving four vehicles with a total of 8 passengers all claiming injuries.
Bruce told police that he had been trying to escape paparazzi and willingly passed a sobriety test to prove he had not been drinking or under any influence. However, officials said there is no indication that paparazzi played a role in the crash according to the LA Times
The police have since filled for a search warrant to see if Bruce was texting during the time of the accident. However, his publicist, Alan Nierob, told the AP, "The evidence will show that Bruce was not texting at the time of the accident."
Howe, 69, was a neighbor to the Kardashian family in Calabasas. Howe was driving her Lexus when she collided with a Toyota Prius that had slowed down. Bruce then rear-ended her Lexus with his Cadillac Escalade, causing Howe’s car to go into oncoming traffic,US Weekly reports.
Bruce expressed in a formal statement, “My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident. It is a devastating tragedy and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
