Bruce Jenner has not spoken out about his transition to become a woman yet but is speaking about the deadly car crash he was involved in this past weekend.
The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star and former Olympian said he’s cooperating with authorities, who do not believe the presence of paparazzi had any impact on the accident.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lt. John Lecrivain said paparazzi chasing him is a “very regular occurrence” and so far there’s “no indication” it played a role.
Jenner said in a statement through his publicist, Allan Nierob, on Sunday, "My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” CNN reports.
He added, "It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible."
A vehicular manslaughter investigation is underway to determine the cause of the three-car pile up.
One woman died during the crash - 69-year-old Kim Howe – and others involved were injured. Police have confiscated Jenner’s cell phone to see if he was texting right before slamming into Howe’s Lexus from behind with his Cadillac Escalade. He passed a breathalyzer on the scene and has submitted a blood sample to determine if he was under the influence of drugs at the time.
