This is certainly not the news the Chicago Bulls wanted to hear, but it is news they’ve heard before. Derrick Rose will undergo knee surgery and could miss the remainder of the season.

As ESPN reported, the Bulls said that Rose has a torn meniscus in his right knee and will need surgery. The pint guard had been feeling discomfort in that knee on Tuesday and an MRI later revealed the devastating news.

Rose is such a tremendous player on the court, but he has battled so many injuries throughout his career and this is yet another setback. It is also the second surgery he will undergo on the same knee in two years.

The Bulls have not said what the timetable for Rose’s return might be, but he could potentially miss the remainder of the season.

Over the last four years, he has only been able to participate in 95 NBA games.

“I still have games I want to win,” Rose told USA Today Sports last month. “I still want to play in the NBA. I still want to win a championship. I’ve got a long career ahead. I’m only 26. I love this game too much.”

After news that the All-Star again needed surgery several of his basketball colleagues took to Twitter with well wishes. One being Indiana Pacers star Paul George, who himself suffered a horrific leg injury last August that required surgery.
