Two and a Half Men wrapped up 12 years of laughs on Thursday night, but much to the surprise of longtime fans, Charlie Sheen did not make a cameo.

Despite Sheen’s campaigning to be on the series finale, saying he pitched a storyline to Lorre and the producers, he was left out but was mentioned. He died once again, just like when they killed him off in 2011.

On his website, the creator of Men revealed they did offer Sheen a part on the finale but he didn’t think it was funny enough.

“For the record, he was offered a role. Our idea was to have him walk up to the front door in the last scene, ring the doorbell, then turn, look directly into the camera and go off on a maniacal rant about the dangers of drug abuse,” Lorre wrote. “He would then explain that these dangers only applied to average people. That he was far from average. He was a ninja warrior from Mars. He was invincible."

This, of course, alludes to his infamous rant when he referred to himself as a “rockstar from Mars.”

Lorre continued they wanted to “drop a piano on him” to conclude. “We thought it was funny. He didn't,” he wrote. They dropped a piano on Lorre and a Sheen lookalike instead.

“He wanted us to write a heart-warming scene that would set up his return to primetime TV in a new sitcom called The Harpers starring him and Jon Cryer. We thought that was funny too,” Lorre finished.
