With Jon Stewart stepping down later this year, The Daily Show has already started its search for a new host.
The New York Daily News reports that Comedy Central has compiled a list of potential replacements for Stewart as the company works out the details of when he'll make his official exit.
According to Mashable, network executives knew well in advance that Stewart would be leaving and were prepared to explore options for a new host. Executive Doug Herzog said that it will be a challenge to find the right replacement for Stewart.
"The shadow of Jon Stewart is going to loom large. ... What you have to get comfortable with is, it's just not going to be Jon Stewart. And it's going to be different," Herzog said.
While no names from Comedy Central's shortlist were revealed, Herzog assured that former Daily Show correspondent John Oliver is not up for consideration. Oliver is currently the host for Last Week Tonight on HBO.
Stewart announced on Tuesday's edition of The Daily Show that he would be leaving after 16 years as host.
