Danica Patrick is speaking out in defense of GoDaddy, saying she’s disappointed her controversial Super Bowl commercial didn’t make the air.

GoDaddy CEO Blake Irving apologized for the commercial, which got backlash from animal activists when it was released ahead of the big game, and announced it wouldn’t air.

Patrick told USA Today about the ad, which would’ve been her 14th Super Bowl commercial, “I don’t think anything in this culture surprises me anymore,” adding, “People have opinions about everything and especially when you get into that world of animal rights or tree rights or whatever rights, they all have an opinion.”

She also said just because someone buys a dog online, doesn’t mean it’s illegal or immoral.

“I looked to find my dog online,” she said. “Sorry. I did. I love my dog and I take great care of her.”

"We thought it was a really funny, slightly left-side, joke," she defended.

Irving, however, said at the time they were responding to the “emotional response” they heard from activists and believed they were doing the right thing by pulling it.
