In 1991, Barrymore published her first book, Little Girl Lost, when she was just 16 years old. In it, she opened up about her drug use at an early age and being a child star.

However, although USA Today reports that that particular autobiography was dark and an outlet for the actress to tell her story, Barrymore said in a statement that she wants the next one to be more lighthearted and funny.

“I love stories that are humorous, emotional and welcoming,” she said in a statement. “That is my goal in writing this book.”

The collection of essays are said to be pieces of her life that all lead up to the 40-year-old’s new role as mother to her two daughters, Olive and Frankie.
