The Florida State men's basketball team came close to completing a huge comeback in the final minutes against rival Miami (FL).

According to the Washington Post, the Miami Hurricanes led Florida State by 18 with less than five minutes remaining in the game. The momentum swung in the hands of the Seminoles when freshman guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes got hot, scoring 30 points in the final 4 minutes and 38 seconds.

Yahoo Sports reports that Rathan-Mayes scored 26 consecutive points without missing a shot. During the stretch, he knocked down six three-pointers and added four free throws to finish with a total of 35 points.

''I've never seen that before in my college coaching career,'' said Miami's Jim Larranaga, who has coached 934 games. ''Outrageous. One of the greatest on-court performances I've ever seen.''

Rathan-Mayes scoring streak wasn't enough though as Miami sunk 14 of 16 from the free throw line in the final three minutes to maintain the lead. The Hurricanes ended up defeating the Seminoles, 81-77.
