Against all odds, Fox’s Empire has been a smash hit, with ratings astonishingly going up each week. So, it should not be surprising to hear that Fox is considering concert tours based on the show.

Fox knows a bit about tours based on TV shows, since the network organized two Glee concert tours at the height of the show’s popularity. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Fox co-chair and co-CEO Dana Walden admitted that a tour is among the possible ways they could cash-in on the series’ popularity.

“What we learned on Glee and what we tried to do on Glee is be very cognizant that the music business is the tail of this dog—the show is the thing,” Walken said. “But we are certainly looking down the line. There’s no reason not to think of having all sorts of ancillary opportunities with this show. We’re certainly thinking about idea of doing a live concert series.”

Empire comes from The Butler team Lee Daniels and Danny Strong and stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. The show’s ratings continue to go up, with last night’s episode drawing a whopping 13.9 million viewers and a 5.4 rating in the 18-49 demographic, notes Deadline. That’s up 7 percent in viewers over last week.
