While Disney’s Frozen was praised for giving young girls strong female characters on the big screen, it turns out that it had a more nefarious purpose that we all missed. Apparently, as a Fox News guest pointed out today, it’s a movie that helps “villainize masculinity.”

Penny Young Nance, the CEO of Concerned Women for America, spoke with Fox News’ Steve Doocy this morning about Frozen, suggesting that the most popular animated movie of all time is not teaching the right message about men and masculinity.

“Hollywood in general has often sent the message that men are stupid, in the way, and if they contribute anything to the family, it’s a paycheck,” Nance said, reports Mediate. She believes that mothers should worry about the message that the film sends their sons, not just their daughters.

“We want them to know that they’re essential,” she said. “We want to raise heroes. We want to raise real men that will stick in their families and be great dads and be great providers and great husbands.”

Nance cited an incident during the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting, when a man shielded his girlfriend from fire.

“We don’t have to empower women at the cost of tearing down men,” Nace said. “We want to raise real men. We want to encourage masculinity, not villainize masculinity.”

Doocy agreed with Nance, noting, “It would be nice for Hollywood to have more male figures in those kinds of movies.”

Apparently, Nance and Doocy forgot about all those superhero movies about men saving the world.

The characters of Frozen will be back in theaters in March, starring in a short film that Disney will show before Cinderella.
