In case you couldn’t tell by his appearance on Game of Thrones, Hafthor Julius Bjornsson is a really strong guy. Now, the actor who played The Mountain on the HBO series is the strongest Viking in the world.
Bjornsson got the title back on Jan. 31 when he broke a record that had stood for 1,000 years during this year’s World’s Strongest Viking competition. He somehow managed to take five steps with a 10 meter-long wooden log on his shoulders. The log weighed 650 kg (1,433 lbs).
The previous record was three steps.
“The result was unbelievable and puts Hafthor Julius Bjornsson’s name in Viking history books,” Ilkka Kinnnen told IronMind.
“Well, today my friends, I made history!” Bjornsson said after the competition. “As well as winning the title of The World's Strongest Viking for the second time in a row, I carried this monster log five steps! My back held up fine!”
Bjornsson, who was rightfully nicknamed Thor, was in three episodes of GoT as The Mountain, going face to face with Oberyn (Pedro Pascal) in a duel.
