This week’s episode of Girls begins with Shoshanna getting rejected for a job; she proceeds to talk her way into getting the job. Failing she asks why she didn’t get the job “too improve” for her next interview. Shosh doesn’t like the answer and argues; claiming being blunt is very admirable trait and then insult the interviewer. Shosh finally realizes the real world is not as reliable/easy as she thought it would be. Jessa suggest she sells an organ.
Marnie shows Jessa and Shoshanna her and Desi’s new song looking for praise and approval. Shosh calls it a perfect song: hate it at first, and then loves it because it’s overplayed, Jessa agrees.
Hannah struggles with writer’s block, and focuses it on her classmates. She writes each of them an apology letter. Her classmates bring it up in class; they analyze her letter’s, accusing it of being defensive instead of apologetic. Hannah responds that it’s an apology letter because she says sorry in it.
Ray is upset with the loud honking happening outside of his apartment because of the new traffic light on the corner of his street, getting no where on the phone, he takes to the street and starts yelling at the people in the cars doing the honking, only to be interrupted by Shoshanna. Shosh asks Ray if she can go shopping with him because she’s feeling meaningless from not having a job.
Hannah and her professor discuss Hannah’s unhappiness after class, Hannah admits she feels suffocated and trapped. Her professor tries to kindly say that living in Iowa is for a specific kind of person, hinting that she might consider leaving. Hannah thinks she’s getting kicked out, her prof says no, and Hannah says she was so happy when she thought she was being kicked out.
Hannah struggles with feeling trapped in Iowa and whether or not she should leave, but doesn’t want to be judged for leaving. Her dad tells her to do what’s right for her, which Hannah then questions how to tell what is the right decision.
Shosh makes Ray go shopping at an expensive men’s store instead of a cheap one. They argue about the comfort, feel, and price of a t-shirt. Shosh convinces Ray he is a changed man, and he gives her the credit for it. Shosh then apologizes to Ray for being scared during their relationship and admits that she fucked up and doesn’t want to be remembered that way. She hopes she can prove how much she loved him and concludes, by saying they will never get back together. Shosh urges Ray to actually do something about the traffic light by his apartment, by joining the city council because he’s smart and can enact some change if he were to try.
Marnie acts passive aggressive and stand offish towards Desi, when he asks if their relationship is alright while they rehearse. Desi then wakes Marnie up in the middle of the night, announcing he broke up with Clementine, and then bursts into tears. He goes on to explain that Clementine mentioned she was thinking about another guy sexually and Desi thinks they’ve already fucked, so he tells her him and Marnie have been having an affair, making it appear that Clementine actually dumped him. Desi and Marnie find some conclusion that Desi dumped her and then tells Marnie he loves her.
Hannah finally makes an impulsive decision and goes back to New York, already appearing to be happier just by riding in a cab in the city, until she returns to her apartment and meets Mimi. Hannah and Adam awkwardly hug, and asks Adam if Mimi is his roommate, and he simply responds with a no.
