For those who continue to wish John Oliver would take over Jon Stewart's position on The Daily Show, you'll have to officially put those wishes aside. HBO plans to keep the comedian for a good while, as they have renewed Oliver's news series Last Week Tonight up to 2017.

HBO revealed the news via a press release, which can be found on Deadline, the satirical news program has already been renewed for two more seasons. This is after Oliver returned for his 35-episode second season Feb. 8 at 11 pm.

Taped once a week in New York a mere couple hours before it debuts on the station, Last Week Tonight, much like a mix between The Daily Show and HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, is a variety combination of Oliver's topical commentary with pre-taped pieces and guests. The show debuted last April.

Oliver has led online polls as to who people would like most to replace Stewart. He took over for The Daily Show from June to August 2013 while Stewart went to production on last year's Rosewater. His warm reception guest hosting that series lead to his comfy job on Last Week Tonight.

Reception for Last Week Tonight has gained a great deal of praise and attention online for its biting and fierce discussions on current issues. He is one of a few name people have suggested should replace Jon. Another was Jessica Williams, who this Friday's Hot Tub Time Machine 2 even predicted would be the replacement host for the series. She, however, went to Twitter to reveal she'll not take over that position.
