James Franco will star in Hulu’s 11/22/63, an adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel.
Back in September, Hulu officially greenlit the series, which will be produced by J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros. Television. Bridget Carpenter is the writer and executive producer on the series.
According to TVLine, Franco will star as high school teacher Jake Epping, who goes back in time to try to stop President John F. Kennedy’s assassination on Nov. 22, 1963. However, Epping runs into trouble when he meets Lee Harvey Oswald and can’t convince people from the past to change. He also gets involved in a messy romance.
Franco has appeared on TV recently, making an appearance on The Mindy Project. He also starred on Freaks and Geeks and even did General Hospital. He was nominated for an Oscar for 127 Hours.
Franco has an incredibly long list of upcoming projects that are either completed or in production.
Hulu is clearly trying to attract top-shelf talent for its original series. In November, it also announced plans to work with Amy Poehler on Difficult People, which will star Billy Eichner.
