This week on Jane The Virgin, we begin with a young Jane getting a shot and asking the nurse to take her through it step by step since she is worried about getting shots.

The narrator mentions Jane has a difficult time with the concept of letting go as we see in the present, Jane is in her graduation dress as her mom holds her in anticipation. Alba is also helping when Jane mentions she has two more days for her mom to be emotional over graduating and that Jane needs to get to her doctor’s appointment to find out the sex.

Petra and Lachlan are in bed together when he mentions needing to go deal with some hotel finances while she plans on staying in bed and preparing for their trip to Spain. She is still under the impression that she can trust him.

Michael and Nadine talk to Rafael about his father being Sin Rostro and he argues he has been cooperative. Rose, aka Sin Rostro, tells him to “calm down” as they are just trying to look for help if his father contacts Rafael. Rose tells the detectives they are just in shock considering his father likely has “gone underground” (in fact, she did bury him in concrete.) Scott, Emilio’s assistant, comes to get Rafael and he looks at Michael like he wants to say something before walking away.

Xiomara talks to Rogelio about him getting back to trying to find acting work since it has been two weeks. He tells her that he is waiting on calls since there is a “bidding war” for him. She looks relieved as her mother comes in, excited about going to physical therapy.

During a routine ultrasound where Rafael and Jane lightly argue back and forth over finding out if they are having a boy or a girl, the assistant notices something is going on with the baby’s ultrasound. This prompts Jane to worry and Rafael asks for the doctor when she begins to panic.

He comes in and tells them there are spots on the baby’s heart and body that could indicate a chromosomal abnormality and the only way to know for sure is to do an amniocentesis. This has a chance of causing miscarriage, which only leaves Jane feeling further anguished. Jane and Rafael discuss what to do as she tearfully asks how this is happening. He assures her everything will be okay and he hugs her as she looks at a photo of a sleeping baby.

Alba finishes her appointment and before she leaves, a man on an exercise machine gets her attention. They exchange kind words, with Alba surprised that he knows Spanish. Xiomara gets her attention since it’s time to go and she looks back at the man before they leave.

Michael and Nadine talk to Scott about Emilio’s alibi for the night of the bellboy’s murder. He admits that Emilio had a girlfriend and was with her on the night of the bellboy’s death. They ask why he didn’t tell them before and he says it’s “guy code”
not to admit to your boss’ affair, much to Nadine’s annoyance. Michael and Nadine discuss the possibility someone working for him killed the bellboy and remember Rafael and Rose had heard the bellboy name Sin Rostro. They decide to talk to Rose to see what she knew about the affair.

Alba and Xiomara arrive home, with Alba refusing to discuss what happened at the appointment. She says they just greet each other and Xiomara teases her about blushing before Rogelio embarrasses Alba by saying anyone would benefit from her, um, wild side. Xiomara goes to talk to Rogelio, who is not happy about an audition he got offered that calls for an American accent. Xiomara encourages him by mentioning how sad all of his followers would be without his presence.

Rafael arrives at the office, still reeling from the appointment, when Lachlan gets his attention. He is with Danielle Sullivan, the Chief Financial Officer for the Marbella. Rafael isn’t in the mood to talk about anything, but has to so they sit down. They tell him the hotel has been losing money and that his father had been considering selling part of the Marbella. They show him information from an investor who wanted to buy it, but he is too distracted thinking of his baby. He tells them he will think about things.

Jane is talking to her mom and Alba. Alba says the procedure is “risky” and her mom asks her the tough question if she’d abort the baby if something were wrong. Jane immediately says no, but thinks if the baby does have special needs, she should be able to plan. She thinks for a moment before deciding not to do the procedure.

Milos is talking to Petra, who is trying to convince her that he wants her back and they should work things out. She wants nothing to do with him since his actions led her to where she is today, with no house or money or husband to call her own. She sees Lachlan and tells Milos she has moved on before walking away.

Jane calls Rafael with her decision as they both look at ultrasound photos of the baby. She hangs up and then goes on her laptop to look up information on genetic defects. She spends all night picturing the small dot that she saw on the ultrasound and the next morning on the bus, she sees a mother playing with her baby and is ovetcome. She arrives at Rafael’s with her graduation outfit and tells him that she decided on the amnio so they can prepare for anything that could be going on with their baby. He agrees and assures her again it will be okay.

Xiomara is doing her dance class and is finishing up when Rogelio comes in. But then he surprises her by talking to the kids and telling them show business is horrible, much to her dismay. Once the kids leave, she confronts him and he apologizes for his mood and offers to talk at the next class, but she says no and asks him how the audition went. They didn’t think his accent was authentic and she gives him some encouragement, telling him to keep trying. Jane comes in and asks to talk to her family.

She tells her parents and abuela that she has decided to do the procedure since she needs to know. While this scene plays, we also get scenes of her preparing for the amnio for the next day. Because she has to be on bed rest for 48 hours, she will miss her graduation ceremony. Jane also asks her family to be there with her, so they all come with Rafael. She asks her doctor to count down so she can “be prepared.”

Rose is stunned, for real and not faking, at the knowledge about Emilio’s affair. She is shocked that she didn’t know Emilio like she thought she did and asks if they spoke to the other woman. Michael mentions that they are “working on it” and double checks her alibi for Emilio about him being at the office all night. She says that Emilio told her that and she did not see him until the next day. As Michael leaves, she takes off her hair to reveal it is a wig and calls someone about moving up their timeline.

Jane must stay on bed rest for 48 hours to make sure the baby will be okay and Rafael puts her to bed. She asks for orange juice since she hasn’t felt the baby move in a little bit and orange juice makes it move. While he gets her orange juice, he mentions a plan to Xiomara, who tells him Jane won’t like it.

In the bedroom, two hours later, Jane hasn’t felt the baby and Rafael reminds her the baby is probably sleeping. She asks Rafael to talk to her to keep her mind off of things, so he tells her he has decided to sell part of the Marbella since the investor checks out. He also tells her he thinks she made the right choice.

Outside in the living room, Xiomara talks about Rafael being in Target for two hours before she asks her mom about her dad. She asks Alba why she has never dated and her mom talks about her father working hard to get them to America all because she wanted to come and then he passed away. Xiomara tells her mom it wasn’t her fault dad died and that she remembered her father loved Alba and wanted her to be happy. She tells her mom to be open to dating.

Jane tearfully tells Rafael she is worried she made a mistake and that something could happen to the baby. Rafael reminds her that there’s no right answer and asks him if he will forgive her if something happens to the baby and he assures her that he will and things will be fine. He tells her to let go and she reminds him that’s difficult for her. Then she makes a sound and touches her side, telling him the baby just kicked. They both are relieved as they hold hands.

Michael and Nadine question Whitney Devore, Emilio’s mistress, who claims that she was on Emilio’s boat with him all night. Then, she surprises them when she tells them Emilio called his wife around 2 to tell her he’d be late. She mentions also that Rose was always disappearing. Michael and Nadine are stunned and a light bulb practically goes off in his head (actually, Nadine turned on the lights) and he asks her to have Whitney give an official statement as he mentally processes what they know, including Luisa’s letter, the billing statement from the doctor’s, Rose setting Emilio up, and the fact the bellboy was identifying her when he said “Sin Rose-stro.” A cop comes in with information and Michael correctly assumes Rose has gone missing.

Jane wakes up the next morning with her room covered with balloons and graduation apparel. She tells her family it is “cheesy,” which Xiomara correctly guessed would be her reaction. Rogelio says a speech for her before his phone interrupts things. Xiomara begins speaking and she gets emotional as she tells her daughter how proud she is and how she hopes Jane will have this moment with her baby. Rafael remarks on her thinking it was cheesy and she tells him to be quiet as Alba talks to her granddaughter. Jane asks about the secret to motherhood and Xiomara says it depends on the kid and tells her she had a great experience. Alba then teases that her situation wasn’t entirely easy, causing Xiomara to grumble.

Michael and Nadine check surveillance with one of the officers and they see a truck called Cutler linens which is longer than the usual trucls that come in for deliveries. They figure Rose must have used the truck as an escape.

Petra prepares to leave the hotel with Lachlan, still under the impression that he is trying to help her. But just as they get to the limo, he surprises her by informing her that he was paying her back for leaving him and now she has nowhere to go since she can’t stay at the hotel.

Rafael and Jane sit in the kitchen, relieved that everything is okay and they only have to wait for two weeks to find out the results. She agrees to try to stay stressed free and he reminds her they forgot to find out the sex. He asks if she will let it go and wait, earning a teasing tone about her being trapped. She is still sure it is a girl.

Petra is distraught in the hotel as she tries to find a place to go. Milos arrives and we find out that Milos bought part of the hotel in order to help her get a share in it for herself. He had also done some checking up on Lachlan before buying 33% of the hotel. Milos asked his family to buy the hotel for her.

Rogelio comes to see Xiomara, who updates her on Jane and the baby. He tells her that he got a job offer for another telenovela. But then he surprises her by saying it is in Mexico. He tells her he hasn’t accepted the offer yet since there is a lot of things to think about.

The surprising twist at the end of this episode comes when Michael and Nadine are viewing footage of the night Roman Zazo was killed. They discover Rose was at the pool with her husband, so neither of them did it and surveillance shows the bellboy who was murdered was also downstairs when it happened. As they try to figure out who killed him, we see Rafael meeting with someone and asking how something went. The person he sees...turns out to be Roman.
