After a year of debauchery and mayhem with a highly public romance and a stream of arrests, Justin Bieber is finally attempting to get his public image back on track. His biggest supporter it seems is Ellen DeGeneres. In case you've forgotten, Justin made his first ever TV appearance on Ellen when he was just 15-years-old.
The now 20-year-old singer has appeared on Ellen three times in the last month. During his first appearance on Jan. 29, Justin surprised Ellen for his birthday and took the opportunity to account for some of his actions over the past year. “Honestly I haven’t been on TV in a while so I’m a little nervous,” Selena's famous/infamous ex told Ellen as he sat down.
He also explained why he's agreed to his SNL roast coming up this March, “I think it’s just cool to be able to laugh at yourself. I’ve done some things that might not have been the greatest. I just want to be able to, ya know, laugh about it, and kind of just own up to some of the things,” Justin said.
Ellen told the young star that she's proud of him for his efforts and for taking responsibility of his actions. After the show, Justin released an apology video to the world explaining his "arrogant" and "conceited" behavior. "I'm not who I was pretending to be," he explains in the video.
In his second appearance, Justin took the time to clarify why he made the apology video and why he released it even after his first appearance. "It was the first time I was on television for a long time and I just was worried about what people were thinking about me," Bieber explained to Ellen DeGeneres. "I did a lot of things over the past few years that I’m not proud of... I was just nervous to be in front of people again and talk in front of them... I thought I just looked really extra nervous and I kinda just wanted to explain myself," US Weekly reported.
Bieber's explanation was very well-received and had nearly 5 million views that morning, US Weekly reported.
"I am a human, right?" he said. "People often forget that, even with some of their comments and stuff they think it doesn’t get to me. But it gets to me. You know, things that people say bother me and I gotta be strong enough to just keep it pushing," he said.
During the show Justin and Ellen pranked fans, tricking them into believing they were walking in on the pair hooking up in the bathroom! As if Ellen would ever cheat on Portia...
His third appearance on Feb.16 featured Justin and Ellen prank calling one lucky fan who will have the chance to meet the stars at an upcoming taping, Just Jared reported. “I just love doing prank phone calls with my friends. Like probably top five favorite things to do,”Justin shared before the call.
"Justin has vowed to be here every week for as long as he's in town," Ellen joked.
