Even though Zendaya accepted Giuliana Rancic’s apology, Kelly Osbourne is still following through with her threat to leave E! Network’s Fashion Police. However, tension on the set dates back to last month, when the show returned after Joan Rivers’ death.
News of Osbourne’s plans to leave was first reported by TMZ, but E! later sent a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, confirming the news.
“Kelly Osbourne is departing E!'s Fashion Police to pursue other opportunities, and we would like to thank her for her many contributions to the series over the past five years, during which time the show became a hit with viewers,” the statement reads.
The network insists that the show will be back on March 30, although no replacement for Osbourne has been picked.
Sources for TMZ said that there was tension on the set from the first 2015 episode onward, as Osbourne was not happy with how the show was being made. Producers had already had enough with her behavior, according to the report.
Things came to a head on Tuesday morning, when Osbourne threatened to quit the show if producers and Rancic didn’t apologize for the insensitive joke Rancic made about her friend Zendaya.
Zendaya later accepted Rancic’s apology, but it has been reported that the jokes were actually pre-written by a member of Fashion Police’s writing staff.
After Rivers’ death in September, E! brought on Kathy Griffin and Brad Goreski.
