Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant will miss some time after undergoing surgery on his foot.

The New York Times reports that on Sunday Durant had a screw replaced in his right foot from an operation in October for a broken bone. According to Thunder general manager Sam Presti, Durant had been experiencing soreness and team doctors determined that surgery would be the best option. Presti said the team is optimistic about Durant's recovery.

"The fracture itself is healing excellently by all accounts and we continue to feel good about the prognosis moving forward," Presti said. "We wanted to determine the best way to alleviate it while still promoting the continued healing of the initial injury."

According to Bleacher Report, Durant will be re-evaluated in a week. The Thunder are hopeful that Durant can return before the end of the regular season.

Durant has played in only 27 games this season due to injury, averaging 25.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. The Thunder are currently sitting at 8th in the western conference.
