NASCAR is most definitely one of those sports/events most of us take for granted. Guys are in super-charged cars going a little under 200 mph around a circular track while not blinking an eye.
Only when major wrecks happen do we re-evaluate the nature of the sport and right now everybody has Kyle Busch in mind.
Today at Daytona International Speedway Busch was involved in a scary mega-wreck which forced a trip to the hospital, notes CBS Sports.
The Associated Press is reporting that he was taken to the Halifax Medical Center after his number 53 car went crashing into the wall during a NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
Daytona International Speedway president Joie Chitwood had this to say after the wreck:
"We should have had SAFER barrier there. We did not. We will fix that," Chitwood said. "Come Monday, we'll start the plan to put SAFER barrier everywhere and finances can't come into play."
Busch injured his right leg in the crash and was immediately placed into an aircast en route to the hospital. He is alert awake but will not participate in the biggest event in the sport tomorrow: the Daytona 500.
Joe Gibbs is expected to replace him in his car which is slated to start out of the fourth slot.
