Whether she chose it or not, Laverne Cox serves as a representation of the transgender community. The Orange is the New Black star is one of the community’s well recognized figures and she admits to feeling pressure from that.
While promoting her new show Doubt, Cox told ABC News she feels a “tremendous amount of pressure” as the trans community’s face.
“I'm trying not to take that on," she added. "I'm trying to just live solidly and in my truth."
She has made history as the first transgender person to grace the cover of Time magazine last year but she’s careful not to “take on other people's expectations."

She told Time at the time, “There’s not just one trans story. There’s not just one trans experience. If someone needs to express their gender in a way that is different, that is okay.”
Cox will play a defense attorney who dates a client in CBS’ Doubt. She will also return for the third season of Netflix’s Orange is the New Black.
