Margot Robbie has been turning heads ever since she first debuted as Leonardo DiCaprio's wife in the hit movie The Wolf of Wall Street. She stunned with a short blonde bob at the Oscars last weekend and her new film, Focus, which also stars Will Smith, hits theaters tomorrow.
But it apparently all started with a slap, Just Jared reports. The beautiful model/actress shared in an interview with Harper's Bazaar magazine that when given the opportunity to kiss The Great Gatsby actor, Robbie decided to smack DiCaprio instead.
She recalls how in the last 30 seconds of her audition, she knew she had to do something amazing or she would lose her chance to be a part of the film.
"He ends it (the scene) saying, ‘You should be happy to have a husband like me. Now get over here and kiss me.’ So I walk up really close to his face and then I’m like, ‘Maybe I should kiss him. When else am I ever going to get a chance to kiss Leo DiCaprio, ever?” But another part of my brain clicks and I just go, Whack! I hit him in the face. And then I scream, ‘F*ck you!’ And that’s not in the script at all. The room just went dead silent and I froze," she said.
And quickly the Australian-born actress realized what she had just done and the possible repercussions of her bold choice.
"I'm thinking, 'You just hit Leonardo DiCaprio in the face. They're going to arrest you because that's assault,'" Robbie recalls. "'You're definitely never going to work again, that's for sure. They'll probably sue you as well in case there's a bruise on his face and he needs to film something else.' "
But we all know what happened next: she got the part!
The casting director and Leo bursted into laughter and the actress remembers Leo’s saying, “Hit me again!" Bazaar reports.
