Meghan Trainor has seen a lot of success in a short period of time thanks to her hits “All About That Bass” and “Lips Are Movin,” but she admits she didn’t think becoming a pop star was in her cards because of her insecurities about her looks.
Trainor sings about not being a “size 2” in her debut single and that’s exactly where her insecurities used to lie.
She told Seventeen, “When I saw photos of myself, I would think, 'I look awful There's a double chin!'"
She added, "I never thought I'd be a pop star," adding, “I don't look like Rihanna."
However, that all changed when she realized how many young girls looked up to her because of her relatability.
"When I was signing autographs, this girl came up to me bawling and said, 'You make me feel pretty again. Thank you,' " she said. "It really resonated with me that this girl was so gorgeous, and she didn't even know it."
Trainor now knows it’s a “mental thing” and has now become confident by repeating the words “I'm confident now, and I look good” out loud.
