Michael Beasley signed with the Miami Heat on Thursday.
According to the Associated Press, Beasley signed a ten-day contract with the Heat. This is the third time that Beasley has signed with the Heat.He is the first player to have three separate stints with the team. The signing comes less than a week after the Heat lost Chris Bosh for the rest of the season due to blood clots in his lungs. Beasley is expected to be available for the Heat’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday.
“It was like I never left, honestly,” Beasley said. "I feel great. I'm definitely blessed and humbled to have another opportunity. We're familiar with each other. So that makes the process easier."
Beasley was the Heat’s lottery pick in the 2008 draft. In 2010 he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He has also played for the Phoenix Suns. This season Beasley has played for the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association. He has averaged 27.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and 1.92 steal while shooting .513 percent with the Sharks, according to the Sun Sentinel. In the 2013-14 season he played in 55 games for the Heat, averaging 7.9 points and 3.1 rebound. Beasley averaged 12.7 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in his three previous seasons with the Heat.
The Heat are 25-31 and are tied for seventh in the Eastern Conference.
