After an on again, off again romance, Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps proposed to longtime girlfriend Nicole Johnson.

According to People, Phelps made the announcement via social media on Sunday when he posted a photo of himself and Johnson in the snow and captioned it, “She said yes.”

Another photo of the happy couple appeared on Johnson’s account as well, where she showed off a stunning diamond ring, which sparkled against the backdrop of the snow. The photos of the couple were taken by Allison Schmitt, who is a training partner for Phelps.

She also posted a photo of the couple on her own account.

Phelps and Johnson were together on and off beginning in 2007 and they split up in 2011 before reuniting in 2014.

Us Weekly reported that Phelps shared a photo of his girlfriend during Thanksgiving in 2014 after his time going to rehab for DUI. In a statement that he gave, Phelps spoke out saying, “I understand the severity of my actions and take full responsibility. I know these words may not mean much right now but I am deeply sorry to everyone I have let down.”

Congratulations to the happy couple.
