In 86 years of the existence of the Academy Awards ceremony, the Academy has awarded some deserving and not so deserving films for Best Picture. There have been years where you just want to scream at the television for the absolute injustices, and years you are excited to be on the same page.
I have watched the ceremony every year since I can remember and enjoy the experience of it all. The Academy gets everyone in the industry together to applaud the best work for the year. There is a whole world of viewers and the Academy will not be on the same page as everyone with their choices as to who should go home with the gold. There have been years that Best Picture went to some undeserving contenders
Best Picture should always go to the film that unveiled all the emotions the film could deliver. Best Picture should have a blend of a brilliant director with a superb vision, writers who tell a profound story and an ensemble of actors that can put it together with raw performances to live out that directors vision.
The 87th Annual Oscar contenders for Best Picture are:
American Sniper
Birdman
Boyhood
The Grand Budapest Hotel
The Imitation Game
Selma
The Theory of Everything and
Whiplash
Good luck to them all.
Now that I gave you my two cents for what it’s worth, without further ado, here are the top 10 past Best Picture winners that truly deserved their Oscar for their efforts.
