Rob Lowe is going to try another attempt at returning to network television in The Grinder, a new Fox comedy pilot.

The project is a 20th Century Fox TV production and centers on a TV lawyer named Dean Sanderson. When his series ends, he moves back to his small down to run his family’s law firm.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the pilot was written by Jarrad Paul (Yes Man) and Andrew Mogel. They will executive produce with Lowe and Sex Tape team Nicholas Stoller and Jake Kasdan. Kasdan was picked to direct.

If the pilot is picked up, it will be Lowe’s first TV gig since he left Parks and Recreation. He also stars in the upcoming U.K. series Apocalypse Slough, which will air on NBC in the U.S. He’s also starring in Paramount’s Monster Trucks movie.

This is actually the second TV project Lowe has been attached to this pilot season. He was working on an untitled family comedy at NBC, but that didn’t even make the pilot stage. Last year, he filmed a pilot called The Pro for NBC, which wasn’t picked up.
