As quarterback Ryan Mallett approaches potentially becoming a free agent, he hopes to stay with the Houston Texans.

Last season, he played in two games for the team before suffering a torn pectoral muscle.
In his two games in 2014, he completed 41 of his 75 pass attempts for 400 yards and two touchdowns, according to pro-football-reference.com.
Mallett is progressing slowly in his recovery, but is reportedly still not 100 percent.
Prior to joining the Texans last season, the former University of Arkansas star was with the New England Patriots for three seasons, serving as Tom Brady’s backup.
As of right now, Mallett is one of several quarterbacks on the Texans’ roster. He is joined by Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum, Tom Savage and Thaddeus Lewis.
There will likely be a competition among these players for who will be named the starter. Head coach Bill O’Brien has stated that he would like to see Mallett return to the team next season, reports CBS Sports.
“I’d like to be back,” Mallett said, according to Pro Football Talk. “Hopefully, we can get something worked out.”
